Olympic stadium recreated using more than 100,000 LEGO pieces

To celebrate the Olympics in London, LEGO artist Warren Elsmore has created a model of the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.

The model took four people two months to complete, using more than 100,000 bricks in the process. It weighs more than 200 pounds and is currently house in Westfield shopping centre near the official Olympics store.

The model includes details of both the interior and exterior of the Olympic stadium, featuring a running track, javelin field and awards podium.

From a PR perspective, LEGO always seem to get it right, enlisting artists like designer Warren Elsmore to build vast and topical models that demonstrate exactly what the product can do. According to design website Inhabitat, Elsmore also runs the LEGO Show – the largest LEGO event in the UK.
