Eden Hazard ballboy incident recreated – as a Subbuteo model!
By Rich Leigh on Tuesday, January 29, 2013
A Subbuteo model-maker has recreated the moment Chelsea player Eden Hazard kicked a ballboy in the match against Swansea last week.
In this blog post, Terry Lee (on Twitter @subbuteoart) said “after many requests I have decided to recreate the incident as best I can, Subbuteo Art style.”
The site, much like the models sold on it by request, is old-fashioned in that it still has a visitor counter, which at the time of writing stands at 53,377. It’ll be interesting to see how much this increases throughout the life of the story.
(Addition – I left it a couple of minutes and the counter went up by more than a thousand visits).
In some quarters the creation of the hand-painted model is being incorrectly attributed to Subbuteo itself, the table top game company most famous a couple of decades ago for the football pitches and players it created (think FIFA for the over 30s).
Although this doesn’t seem to be a PR stunt per se, it’s clearly gaining a lot of interest as the latest effort to piggyback on the Hazard ballboy incident. If you missed this brilliant ad by Specsavers last week, be sure to have a look.
