Samsung Bolts on

By on Wednesday, March 27, 2013

The clash of the technology titans shows no sign of abating any time soon. For every fanboy that picks up the latest iPhone, someone else somewhere goes for the Galaxy – as it stands just that tiny bit more affordable, appealing to those not yet seduced by the world-dominating Apple brand.

Samsung’s latest hand is nothing short of amazing – enlisting the fastest man on the planet to help them pip Apple to the post once and for all. Every person who hasn’t been living under a rock knows that Usain Bolt is the best of the best, and I’m sure the Japanese technology giant’s PR team are banking on this message rubbing off on their own brand.

And this is just the tip of the PR iceberg, with the partnership also coinciding with the launch of Samsung’s latest camera, the NX300 – the strapline being that even snapping Usain Bolt would be a simple task for Samsung (and free of that dreaded photo-blur). Samsung said: “The NX300 can shoot up to 8.6 continuous frames per second with its super-fast 1/6000 sec shutter speed to ensure no detail is missed even if the subject of your shot is moving at Bolt’s record breaking pace.”

Samsung will be working with the Usain Bolt Foundation to provide photography equipment and lessons to aspiring young photographers: the ‘NX Junior Photographers’.

The full ad for the launch will be revealed on 15 April in the UK, with the NX300 available to buy at the end of March from John Lewis and Dixons.
