Canadian zoo publishes world’s first Annual Report entirely on Instagram

Ah, annual report season. When three little words – “forward looking statements” – lead to communicators and graphic designers rocking in the corners of their offices, desperately trying to find their happy place.

Annual reports have the tendency of becoming monotonous encyclopedias of content, void of true creativity and full of facts.

This year, the Calgary Zoo – located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada – took a distinctly 21st century approach to its 2012 Annual Report. Working in conjunction with local agency Trigger, the Zoo has released the world’s first Annual Report published entirely on Instagram.

Typical annual report copy was formatted to fit Instagram’s style sheet, and the result is a unique, sustainable, shareable and environmentally-conscious insight into zoo life.
