24-Hour Window Shopping: Kate Spade Launches New ‘Saturday’ Collection

By on Wednesday, July 3, 2013

A joint venture between fashion brand Kate Spade Saturday and Ebay, this campaign is so brilliantly obvious its genius should be honored.

Playing on the age old concept of ‘window shopping’, Kate Spade Saturday has collaborated with Ebay to launch touch screen window shops at four locations across New York City.

Shoppers can browse the 30-piece collection then make a purchase via Paypal on the giant touch-screen window  there and then, any time of the day or night.  After picking the items they want, shoppers get a text message to their phone asking where and when they want their pieces delivered. It can be as quickly as an hour, the next day, week – pretty much whenever they want!

According to the senior Vice President of Marketing at the fashion brand, Kate Spade Saturday is the ‘younger, cooler sister’ of  its origin brand Kate Spade New York, and what better introduction to the world than this. Combining the high street with an innovative e-commerce function is exactly what retailers need to do in order to survive offline.

When I heard this story on Lorraine this morning, I could have kicked myself for not having the idea first; a reflection of the greatness of this campaign is that it’s so obvious I can’t believe it hasn’t been done before.
