#knitgrannyknit! Granny Gladys “live-knits” your tweets

By on Friday, December 6, 2013

Full disclosure – I am the Project Manager on this campaign, which means my feelings about how cool this site is might be (slightly) completely biased.

Evans Hunt, a digital marketing agency out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has created a site takeover for its website for the month of December to track the progress of their CKO (Chief Knitting Officer), Granny Gladys, as she ‘live-knits’ tweets submitted throughout December using the hashtag #knitgrannyknit.

The agency wanted to do something fun this holiday season that allowed its users to engage with the company and also help a great cause. For every ‘Season’s Tweeting’ Evans Hunt receives, they’re donating $1 to the Alberta Children’s Cottage Society charity. Ask the project team behind the campaign, and they’ll tell you they thought it would give people a laugh to see the contrast between such an instantaneous tool like Twitter with the not so instantaneous craft of knitting.

Every day, users will see progress along with some surprises that hopefully show the culture of the agency (like Granny’s sidekick, Beast the Frenchie, keeping her chair warm while she knits from home). Granny Gladys is also acting as a guest contributor to Evans Hunt’s Facebook and Twitter accounts throughout December.

Check out the site takeover at www.evanshunt.com and submit your #knitgrannyknit tweets!

Evans Hunt gave Granny Gladys a fat retainer to live-knit tweets over December with the hashtag #knitgrannyknit. $1 is being donated for each tweet to the Alberta Children's Cottage Society.
