Testing the morals of passers-by in the freezing cold in Norway.

By on Thursday, February 20, 2014

To raise awareness of the harsh realities faced by the thousands of children without shelter or adequate clothing for the Syrian winter, SoS Children’s Villages Norwegian division launched this stunt to promote their new campaign SOS MAYDAY with aim of encouraging people to donate and support these children.

*Translation in the bottom of the post.
The stunt features an 11-year-old boy placed in nothing but a thin shirt at a bus stop in the freezing weather, small enough so that his legs doesn’t reach the ground.  The hidden camera catches people’s reactions, and during the two day filming nearly everyone passing by gave their jacket to the 11-year-old.

The timing of the video is impeccable as because it coincides with the picture of a 4-year-old refugee crossing the border to Jordan alone after being separated from his family being shared in the news all over the world.

Translation by order:
Line 1: What do you do if you see a child who is freezing.
Line 2: We set up a hidden camera and placed Johannes at a bus stop
Line 3: Are you someone who acts when you see someone (who needs help/in need of help)?
End text:
Children in Syria are freezing:
Send SOS to 2160 (90 kr) and give a warm jacket.

SOS MAYDAY is a network of people who ACT when the crisis hits.
