An African Grey parrot became an insurance salesman in this Czech stunt

By on Thursday, May 4, 2017

In a recent campaign for Ceska Pojistovna, the largest insurance company in the Czech Republic, Carl – an African Grey parrot – was trained to sell pet insurance by a Hollywood animal handler.

Kind of.

The above video explains all, but if you don’t have time, here’s a quick explanation.

Over a 3 month period, Carl was taught to bark the words ‘car insurance’. He was take on a country-wide tour around major pet stores. According to this on Little Black Book, Carl’s custom-built ‘office’ had an built-in tablet and a pre-loaded landing page that prompted visitors to buy insurance.

Overall, a headline-grabbing stunt, that, despite its dubious ethics (I say that as somebody that quite enjoys winding PETA up, having put together a Catch It, Kill It, Cook It stunt last year) is at least measurable.
