Paddy Power commission sculptor behind ridiculous Ronaldo statue to create Bale bust in £25k stunt

Remember this ‘life-like’ bust of Cristiano Ronaldo? It was unveiled in March at the Madeira Airport bearing the Portuguese star’s name, and drew comparisons with The Head from Art Attack.

Well, bookmaker Paddy Power’s paid the sculptor behind the statue £25,000 to have another go. This time, Emanuel Santos has recreated the likeness of Ronaldo’s Real Madrid team mate and Wales star Gareth Bale, to coincide with the build-up to the Champions League final in Cardiff this weekend.

Here’s the new effort and, to be fair to Santos, the bust, which took 264 hours to complete and weighs 40kg, is MUCH better.
